Heading to Texas Cave Country

After yesterday's talk in the visitor center, we woke up and decided we wanted to try to hit some of the caves in Texas, so we headed farther west.  Learning from our previous experiences, we chose a KOA to stay at that was only about 4 hours away - not too bad of a drive.  Good thing since it was really windy and the truckers were out again.

All that being said, it was a good thing we had an RV that day.  Sarah had a bit of a "I need food" attack and I was forced to put our trip on hold and make oatmeal in the Walmart parking lot before she imploded or otherwise bailed out of the trip to wander the desert with the tumbleweed.

I need oatmeal.  NOW.

I took too long taking pictures
Once fed, we were on our way again.  I-10 out of Houston was really pretty - a little hilly and mostly straight.  Big roads.  We stopped along the side of the road to rest a bit and make some coffee.

Random Texas overpass along I-10

The rest of the road trip was uneventful.  I was a little concerned about the KOA - it was inside the city limits for San Antonio, which seemed a little shady - not sure what that part of the city was like.  It turned out to be great.  The folks running the place were great, and Roger convinced us to go downtown to the Riverwalk for dinner.  Glad he did, this was a good time.  We ate at an Italian restaurant and had a really good time just talking and people watching.

We stumbled on to The Alamo on our trek to the Riverwalk
